Safe, trained and ready to help
Koala rescue and transport require specialist knowledge, safe procedures and coordinated teamwork. Before participating in these roles, volunteers must become members of Wildlife SEQ and complete the appropriate training.
Rescue and transport
Training comes first.
People assisting with koala rescues or transporting koalas must:
- Become a Wildlife SEQ memberMembership connects volunteers with the organisation, its procedures and coordinated rescue network.
- Complete the appropriate trainingTraining prepares volunteers to recognise risks, protect koala welfare, work safely and follow the correct rescue and transport process.
- Wait for authorisation and coordinationDo not attempt a koala rescue independently. Respond only within your training, role and current instructions.
Call the rescue number. Keep people and dogs back and wait for trained responders—do not attempt the rescue yourself.
