Tortellini’s story moved from rehabilitation to Koala Kindy, then to a new beginning in Moreton Bay.
By late March, Tortellini weighed 2.2 kilograms and was making encouraging progress.
Tortellini moved to Koala Kindy on 20 April, where climbing, choosing leaf and living more independently prepared this koala for release.
The next chapter
On 2 August 2026, Tortellini was released in the Moreton Bay region—back where a wild koala belongs.
